Information

Tuesday Jun 3, 2014 9:00am to 4:00pm
The Reno chapter of Shades of Blue, in partner with the Reno Aviation Museum, will be hosting 14 children from the Squaw Valley Preparatory School on June 3, 2014. We will be meeting at the Reno/Stead Airport at 9 am, where the children will be touring airplanes, helicopters, maintenance facilities and get an introductory class on flying airplanes. Joe Rajacic, a Boeing 747-400 Captain for United Airlines, will be discussing what it is like to work as an airline pilot to be followed by a question and answer period. Doug Ritter, President of the Reno Aviation Museum, will give a tour of his hanger and shop area to allow the students an up close and personal look at the various stages of airplane repair and restoration. There will also be a tour of the Reno Sheriff Department's helicopter and maintenance base. To round out the morning many volunteers will be bringing their personal airplanes to allow the children to sit in the pilot seat and perhaps, hopefully, see way off into the future when their lives and a career in aviation will meet.

On behalf of Shades of Blue and the Reno Aviation Museum we look forward to a fun and instructive day for all.
